Flamingo Finance recently announced their plans for the year 2025, focusing primarily on the development of OrderBook+ 2.0 and the launch of the FLOCKS token. OrderBook+ 2.0 is a block-based order book that utilizes automated market makers and limit orders to create a decentralized trading protocol with tightened spreads. FLOCKS, on the other hand, is an evolution of FLUND, a single-sided staking index-like fund.

The development team at Flamingo is set to add new token pairs to OrderBook+ 2.0 on the Neo N3 TestNet before the end of 2024. Currently, the platform supports trading for FLM, fUSDT, fWBTC, and GAS, and the team plans to introduce new tokens with 6 or 18 decimals to facilitate different trading scenarios. This move is aimed at testing the system in various market conditions before the MainNet upgrade.

As they prepare for the MainNet launch of OrderBook+ 2.0, Flamingo is also gearing up for the release of the FLOCKS token in 2025. The FLOCKS token contract is already live on the Neo N3 TestNet and is undergoing integration into the platform’s front end. If testing goes smoothly, the team plans to launch the smart contract and module in January 2025.

FLUNDS, the predecessor of FLOCKS, was launched in 2022 as a way to incentivize long-term holding, but it ended up being used for short-term trading. To address this issue, Flamingo increased the exit fee to 2% to discourage short-term swaps. With FLOCKS, the team aims to promote long-term holding by sharing fees derived from platform activity as dividends and offering token-based vote weight once governance capabilities are integrated.

Overall, Flamingo’s focus for 2025 is on further improving their decentralized trading protocol through OrderBook+ 2.0 and introducing the FLOCKS token to incentivize long-term holding. The team is diligently working on testing and finalizing the developments to ensure a smooth MainNet launch.
