The Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) behind the Dash cryptocurrency has recently approved the Evolution (Evo) upgrade. This upgrade is considered the most significant release for Dash and will bring the network to the modern age. The Evolution platform will enable decentralized applications (DApps) to run on the Dash network and implement data contracts, a more efficient version of smart contracts. This will allow for data storage functionalities, social payments, contact lists, and NFTs on the Dash blockchain.
On June 23, Samuel Westrich, Dash Core Group CTO, announced the approval of the proposal called “Evo Accelerated Launch Release Schedule” with 68% votes in favor. This marks the beginning of the “Genesis phase” of the Evolution release, which will launch on July 19 in a “chaotic mainnet” environment. Similar to THORChain’s “chaosnet” launch, the Dash Evolution platform will run on the mainnet before being perfected, following pressure from the community to release what has been finished so far.
Despite the controversy surrounding the accelerated release, with some community members questioning whether it should wait until it is fully polished, Joel Valenzuela, Business Development and Marketing for Dashpay, is in favor of the release. He believes it is important to show a real release after years of development and is excited about the potential of the Evolution platform. The approval of the proposal was narrow, but ultimately the community voted in favor of the accelerated release to meet the demands of the community and work on iterative changes later.
The release of the Evolution platform is expected to bring significant changes to the Dash network and potentially boost demand for the native coin, DASH. While DASH is currently trading at $23.79, down 24.72% year-to-date, the launch of Evo could have a positive impact on the price and market cap of the cryptocurrency. Overall, the community is looking forward to the launch of the Evolution platform and the innovative features it will bring to the Dash network.
