Famed artist Brendan Murphy is expanding his reach into the digital art world by releasing a new collection on the Bitcoin blockchain called “Frozen With Desire.” This collection features 3,100 Bitcoin Ordinal inscriptions with illustrations of “Bitcoin Spacemen” inspired by Murphy’s real-world sculpture of the same name, which contained 6,200 diamonds and was listed for $25 million at Saks Fifth Avenue in 2021. This project follows Murphy’s previous “Boonji Project” NFT collection on the Ethereum blockchain in 2021. The launch of the Frozen With Desire collection is set for July 18 on the Magic Eden marketplace, with each Ordinal priced at 0.00144 BTC, or approximately $92.
Murphy expressed his excitement about being a pioneer in the Bitcoin Ordinals space, as it allows him to reach a new audience and connect with fans in a way that was not possible before. The FWD inscriptions will be numbered between 72,221,454 and 72,226,059 on the Bitcoin blockchain, and owners will have access to a digital 3D recreation of the real-world sculpture, complete with all the diamonds and fittings. This documentation on the blockchain aims to preserve one of the most expensive pieces of art in the world on a secure platform.
The project team lead SpaceCat noted the shift in the art industry’s perception of digital art in recent years, with more art galleries showing interest in displaying digital artworks. Owners of the Bitcoin Ordinals will be able to redeem their NFT for a physical piece of fine art from Brendan Murphy at one of his global gallery locations. The FWD Ordinal holders will also have exclusive access to Ordia, an application where they can vote on the future of the Frozen With Desire sculpture.
Murphy explained that while the images in the Frozen With Desire collection depict spacemen, the concept is not necessarily about space exploration but rather about the positive energy that comes from creativity, religion, and the emotional journey within oneself. He sees the spaceman as an iconic figure in the Web3 space and aims to keep the space vibrant and memorable with his artwork. The collection holds a deeper meaning, with the term “FWD” representing moving forward and embodying a sense of progress and growth.
As the launch of the Frozen With Desire collection approaches, fans and collectors are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to own a piece of Murphy’s unique artwork on the Bitcoin blockchain. The merging of art and technology in the form of NFTs has opened up new opportunities for artists to connect with their audience and explore innovative ways of sharing their creations. With the support of blockchain technology, Murphy is set to make a lasting impact on the digital art world and continue to push the boundaries of creativity and expression in the evolving art landscape.
